Rab is the southernmost of the Kvarner islands, so the vegetation is mostly Mediterranean. You will see this as soon as you step on the island, because on a warm summer day, along with the song of crickets, you will be greeted by the pleasant smell of magriza (smilj) and low plants that make their way between sharp rocks. After the bare and somewhat wild ferry dock of Misnjak, the island opens up in a completely different light. The vegetation is lush, and due to the Mediterranean climate, Rab is covered with evergreen forests, in addition to the autochthonous oak. The island of Rab was protected by the gods by placing it under the Velebit mountain and in the lap of the Kamenjak mountain. This hill, which can fool you with its bare face facing the main road and the Velebit Channel, is a real blessing for the island because it protects it from the cold gusts of the bora wind and is generally favorable to the climate. Rab is the island of the sun, and believe me, that is not a phrase because according to statistics, it has 2417 hours of sunshine per year, meaning that on Rab the sun shines for ten hours a day in June, July and August.

Palit is partly situated along the Bay of St. Euphemia, which is enclosed by the Frkanj peninsula. The wooded Frkanj attracts tourists with its somewhat wild nature and coves. The natural continuation of Frkanj is Kalifront, a peninsula on which there is a protected forest of indigenous holm oak, Dundo. On the western side of the island there are a string of coves lined with dark pines.
